Whether in the family home, online, or even at a local soccer club, we ensure deaf and hard of hearing kids have access to Auslan when they need it most. Proud parent Kristina shared her son Lucian’s experience with Auslan At Home.

“People often wonder why we’re learning Auslan when my son can already speak. For us, it's about giving Lucian every tool possible to navigate his world. When he experiences hearing fatigue, Auslan gives him a visual way to understand what spoken language might miss.

Our Auslan tutor, Alan, has really taken the time to understand Lucian. He uses both English and Auslan, adapting activities to keep Lucian engaged.

Auslan isn't exclusive to those who use it as their primary language. It’s a pathway to inclusion that allows for both oral and visual learning. It’s given my son additional access to expressing himself and communicating so that he doesn’t miss out.”
